Investments
This chapter reports on projects that made significant progress or were completed during 2016. The projects are part of the Implementation Plan of RFC Rhine-Alpine.

Tracks Beverwijk
Projects in the Netherlands
1 Zevenaar (NL)–border
In Zevenaar, preparations for the construction of 25 kV were finalised. Installations have been operational since the fourth quarter of 2016.
3 ETCS in the Netherlands
Implementation of main parts of the Dutch network is scheduled to take place by 2029. This also includes the Eindhoven–Venlo line.

The marshalling yard Beverwijk was equipped with longer tracks to facilitate 740m trains. Tracks have became oper- ational in the last quarter of 2016.

Projects in Belgium
Sidings Zwankendamme
The first phase consisted of relocating the main line (L51A) westbound in order to make room for the new fan of sid- ings, which will, in future, have 4 tracks able to accommo- date 740m trains.
5  ETCS in Belgium
ETCS deployment continued according to Infrabel’s mas- ter plan, which anticipates for the whole network to be equipped by 2022.
In October 2016 the first phase of the construction of a new fan of sidings in Zwankendamme was finished. The global project aimed at improving the rail connections between the Port of Zeebrugge and its hinterland and was granted partial co-financing in 2016 under the CEF 2015 Call.
