The project refers to the upgrading of the interlocking reducing transit time down to 3’/4’ for each safety section so enhancing the line capacity.
The project is finalised and financing is secured.
As first phase the sections Monza–Camnago–Chiasso will be completed in 2018.

The investment programme includes works of different nature, all of them aiming at the improvement of the perfor- mances of the lines of the corridor, in particular enhancing the gauge up to PC80 and sidings length to 750 metres. In 2016 financial resources were agreed upon with the Italian Ministry to enhance the power stations feeding the section Chiasso–Milan to make the running of heavier trains possi- ble. The decision is based on the follow-up of the opportunity study on longer trains realised in the first half of 2016.

Works on the designed lines are progressing.
First ETCS-equipped train running planned in TT scenarios as described below.
