Both the PaP offer of RFC Rhine-Alpine and the related requests were on the same level as in previous years. Feedback from the timetabling experts of the requesting RUs in a workshop at the end of August 2016 showed that the PaP offer should be improved to better meet cus- tomer demands. As a workshop follow-up, RFC Rhine-Alpine started a PaP review project to improve the TT offer for 2019 and beyond.
Harmonisation between the RFCs made great progress in 2016, with the development of harmonised Customer Information Documents: CID Book 1 now follows the har- monised structure whereas the content of Book 2 and Book 4 was previously harmonised across RFCs (leaving only some RFC Rhine-Alpine specific parts marked as such). Further harmonisation of the Customer Information Doc- ument will continue in 2017. The RFCs also agreed on a joint approach for user needs regarding the PaP offer. A certain share of these has already been implemented in RFC Rhine-Alpine in the context of the customer workshop at the end of August 2016.
Since 2016 the Customer Information Platform (CIP) has been a joint activity of six RFCs coordinated by RNE (initi- ated by RFC Rhine-Alpine). Development started for a mul- ti-corridor view of the map and a clear and comprehensive provision of all relevant information documents for all par- ticipating RFCs.
For the update of the Transport Market Study, two com- plementing approaches have been followed. On the one hand RFC Rhine-Alpine has supported the development of a joint O/D matrix and related transport market analysis together with all RFCs via RNE. On the other hand, a spe- cific approach has been developed for the update of the Transport Market Study focussing on identifying the con- crete benefits of major growth drivers and their potential impact on rail freight growth on the corridor.
Several actions have been taken with regard to communi- cation and marketing of the activities of RFC Rhine-Alpine. Presentations at specific events were coordinated with all RFCs in 2016, for example the stands at the TEN-T Days in Rotterdam and at the EU Rail Freight Day in Vienna. The latter was coordinated by RFC Rhine-Alpine for all RFCs. The Annual Report was presented, featuring a slightly adapted structure and a new, acclaimed design. The RFC Rhine-Alpine calendar for 2017 was developed, this time focussing on the terminals on the corridor, and sent out to all RFC Rhine-Alpine stakeholders. The website was updated to take into account the new developments.
The many positive developments on RFC Rhine-Alpine were reflected in the 2016 RFC user satisfaction survey by RNE which determined an overall rating of 4.1, up from an aver- age of 3.6 in 2015. Specific follow-up measures have been defined to further improve user satisfaction. The full results can be found on the website of RFC Rhine-Alpine and on the CIP.
RFC Rhine-Alpine continued to benefit from EU support through CEF Funding (Action 2014-DE-TM-0299-S), which is highly appreciated, in order to be able to fulfil the obliga- tions of the Regulation (EU) 913/2010.
