RFC Rhine-Alpine ministers meet during ITF summit

On 22 May, Ministers, high level representatives from ministries, Infrastructure Managers and stakeholder from the railway sector of RFC Rhine-Alpine and RFC North Sea-Mediterranean met in a side event during the ITF summit in Leipzig. This year’s focus topics include international contingency management and improvements on quality and performance. The stakeholders acknowledged the development of additional procedures for international contingency management including re-routing catalogues. Performance was pronounced as a key factor for improving the competitiveness of rail freight, hence the RFC Rhine-Alpine approach to jointly find solutions with all involved stakeholders in the transport chain was very much welcomed. All participants appreciate the progress made and agreed on continuing the efforts to harmonise infrastructure parameters, facilitate cross-border interoperability and increase performance in order to foster a modal shift to rail.
